Aviation 100 History Night

Mr Mike Keenan will MC an informative night with aviation historians Rev Dr Richard Waugh QSM, and Hokitika-born Bishop Stephen Lowe presenting two unique lectures. This will be followed by presentations from a panel of pilots and airport support staff with an audience question and answer session. Between the two lectures will be the 30-minute ‘Flying the Coast’ documentary film produced
by Jerry Savage.
Rev Dr Richard Waugh QSM is a preeminent historian, writer, and ordained minister. he is the author of Hoki to Haast: New Zealand’s First Airline and several other titles about aviation, the West Coast and New Zealand more broadly. His contributions to the aviation community in New Zealand were recognised in 2007 when he was awarded the Queen’s Service Medal for services to aviation history and the community. Bishop Stephen Lowe is also an aviation historian and photographer, born and bred in Hokitika, with a passion for recording the wider aviation history of Aotearoa New Zealand. He was appointed as the twelfth Bishop of Auckland on 17 December 2021.
